"39 Seconds"
Supernatural
Dean/Jo
PG
No setting or spoilers, just a moment in time.
Summary: They don't get quiet often.
Dean leans into Jo. His breath is warm against her cheek. For a second, she
thinks he's going to whisper in her ear. Instead he moves his mouth closer to
hers. She keeps her eyes open, watches as his flutter, then
shut.
His lips are soft--still testing her after all this time--Jo slips her tongue
between his teeth, reminding him of his grade. A for effort
and A+ for technique. She smiles at the thought. Dean's lips curve with
hers.
His hands get tangled in her hair, massages the back of her neck.
Jo lets her eyelids fall. Lets herself be in the
moment--linger--enjoy.
It's quiet. They don't get quiet often.
She cups his face with both hands. Cradles his jaw and brushes her thumbs up
and down on the scratchy stubble. She arches her back, bringing her body to
his. He takes her in, sliding forward to meet her.
The kiss becomes more urgent, frantic, needy. They
forget about breathing, only focus on the other.
And she can taste everything about him--memories that can't be forgotten, words
spoken too loudly, and battles with no victories.
Jo wraps her arms around him, hugs him.
Dean, with his heavy arms clad in leather, embraces her in the same manner.
He's the one to pull away first. He doesn't move far--keeps their bodies
connected, stares into her eyes before moving his mouth back to her cheek. His
breath is warmer. It sends a shiver through Jo.
For a second, she thinks he's going to whisper in her ear--and he does.
"I love you."
Her eyes close. Linger--enjoy--the quiet moment.
She rests her head on his shoulder, skims the steady pulse on his throat with
her lips and says, "Took you long enough."
